Until some decades
ago on January 17th all the animals were
blessed, this tradition which was linked to the yearly
feast in the honour of Sant’Antonio Abbate, the
protector of fire and animals, has now disappeared.
Sacred functions are held in the church of Sant’Antonio
Abbate, the statue of the s aint after the
procession is taken also to the other two churches of the
town. After the last evening Mass there is also a
characteristic public auction during which the saint is
offered some presents. |
