	In August there is a festive atmosphere all over the town, thanks to a tradition that comes from religious faith related to the commemoration of some saints of the town. In Giarratana the month of August is full of sports events, folklore performances and cultural initiatives. Soon after the onion festival, the other important appointment is the San Bartolometo Fair that is held on august 21st and 22nd . Heads of cattle, tools and various items are sold in the streets. In the past this Fair had imposing proportions: big masses coming from all over Sicily came to this mountain town to be present at the selling of cattle and by-products. Two days after, on August 24th the patron San Bartolomeo is commemorated.
