The Onion Festival The Festival is held on August 14th in different places of the town centre. The onion is cooked and served in different ways with typical cheese and local wine. The atmosphere is genuine with a baroque setting and mountain air. For once it is the Onion, usually a Cinderella in the Kitchen, the protagonist of this Festival. For once, music, sounds art and fireworks are the side dishes.
	The story of the Onion Festival
	At the beginning it was like a play invented by a parish congregation in 1978, but the initiative was approved and encouraged by the Municipality. Today the onion festival has become a real institution in Giarratana. An important appointment even this year on August 14th when the festival has come to its nineteenth edition.
